Permanent exhibit dedicated to the German nobel prize writer Only ten minutes from Lugano, in the village of Montagnola, since 1997 a museum is entirely dedicated to the life and work of the German writer and nobel laureate Hermann Hesse. Located inside the historic Torre Camuzzi building, it is very close to Casa Camuzzi, where Hesse lived between 1919 and 1931, in a apartment with a splendid view over Lake Lugano. Here a permanent exhibition shows how the writer lived for over 40 years: personal belongings, numerous photographs, books and watercolor paintings libri give a vivid impression of how Hesse worked and lived. The Museum also hosts various lectures, conferences, concerts and projections during the whole year. From May to October on Fridays (and for groups any day of the week with previous reservation) the guided tour "On the footsteps of Hermann Hesse" (the tour takes approximately 2 hours) leads to the discovery of all the hidden treasures of this romantic ticinese village, including the Museum and Hesse's tomb in the local cemetery.
